SCULPTURE_BIO

SCULPTURE_BIO
"Agonaut" represents a pivotal moment in my artistic journey, marking a return to creative stone carving after a 20-year hiatus. This deeply personal piece embodies the beginning of an exciting new chapter in my work. Inspired by the timeless epic "Jason and the Argonauts," a cherished childhood film from the 1980s, "Agonaut" captures the essence of mythological adventure and the allure of the unknown. The sculpture's evolution from a conceptual 1/20 scale model for a larger "Stargate" monument reflects my fascination with bridging ancient traditions and modern sensibilities. Through "Agonaut," I explore themes of balance and symmetry, reflecting the duality of human nature. The interplay between inner and outer spaces invites contemplation on self-reflection and human connection. Technical details reveal intricate craftsmanship: • Two inward-facing spires, united by a base, evoke protection and security • A narrow opening between the spires symbolizes the threshold between innocence and responsibility • The fragile expanse connecting them serves as a poignant reminder of human fragility and the limits of co-dependence "Agonaut" challenges viewers to ponder the beauty that arises when strengths are mirrored equally. The piece cautions against pushing beyond the boundaries of mutual dependence, inviting reflection on the complexities of human nature and our place in the world. As an artist, I seek to bridge ancient mythology with modern sensibilities, creating works that invite viewers to embark on their own journey of discovery. "Agonaut" stands as testament to my skill and creativity, exploring the intricate balance between protection and vulnerability, security and exploration.
